
Amad Edwards has been indicted on assault charges.
Manhattan D.A. Bragg has announced the indictment of 27-year-old Amad Edwards, the suspect who stabbed a random 52-year-old in the neck last month at the subway station on 96th and Lexington Avenue.

Edwards targeted and attacked his victim, who standing on a northbound 6 train platform, at about 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 20. He approached him from behind, completely unprovoked, and stabbed him in the neck. As the man went to report the incident to an MTA employee at the station’s booth, Edwards fled the station. The man was eventually taken to the hospital where he received stitches.
Edwards was arrested the following day at the 125th Street and Lexington Avenue station, after officers recognized him from a wanted flyer.
He was arraigned in Supreme Court on September 16 and is facing charges of Attempted Assault in the First Degree and Assault in the Second Degree.
“As alleged, Amad Edwards viciously stabbed a stranger on a subway platform in the early morning hours,” said District Attorney Bragg. “In Manhattan, we will continue to hold people accountable who commit harmful and illegal conduct in our stations and on our subways. I wish the victim a speedy recovery.”
According to court records, Edwards pled not guilty and his bail was set at $25,000.
