National Pizza Day is Wednesday, February 9. And to celebrate, Zazzy’s Pizza will offer customers ‘The First Pizza Ever Created.’
The Mastunicola is said to be the first modern interpretation of pizza that paved the way for future classics such as the Marinara and Margherita. The Mastunicola features imported seasoned and cured lardo, Pecorino Romano, extra virgin olive oil and basil.

This special pizza, from pizzaiolo Domenico “Mimmo” Tolomeo, will be offered for $16 exclusively at Zazzy’s Upper East Side and West Village locations (find them on the UES at 1477 Second Ave at 77th Street). For more information about Zazzy’s, visit zazzys.com.
In other food and drink news, the owners of Hendricksons NYC — an upcoming Irish American sports bar — are hoping to be open February 20. “We do plan on having a full menu of classic bar food, but the kitchen will have a delayed opening,” they told us. The new bar will be located at 1122 First Avenue, between 61st and 62nd streets. This space was last occupied by Thai restaurant The Nuaa. There isn’t much info out yet but we were told a website is coming. For now, feel free to follow @hendricksonsnyc on Instagram.
And if you haven’t yet heard, Butterfield Market recently opened 77th Street Sushi Shop at 1102 Lexington Avenue. “Stop in for your favorites and check out our new specials including beef, pork and veggie dumplings, a variety of poke bowls, classic shrimp tempura and so much more!” Butterfield wrote on its Instagram page earlier this month. The shop is open Monday-Friday from 10am-7pm and Saturday-Sunday from 11am-6pm.
