Armed Car Jacking at UES Parking Garage: Report

Two cars were reportedly stolen at gunpoint from an Upper East Side address near Central Park.

According to the New York Police Department, the robbery happened on Wednesday evening at around 7:30 p.m.

“Two unknown individuals entered a parking garage located at 5 East 73 Street, simulated having a firearm, and demanded keys for two unoccupied vehicles,” the NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Public Information (DCPI) told East Side Feed in an email on Friday. “The individuals forcibly removed a [greg] 2025 Range Rover and a [white] 2025 BMW X7 and fled the location. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident. There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.”

X (formerly Twitter) user @FreedomNews.Tv shared a video taken directly after the incident, showing a police cruiser on the scene outside of Manhattan Garage Equities. East Side Feed called the parking garage for comment but received no answer.

On Friday afternoon, the NYPD’s 19th Precinct also tweeted that it busted a “career criminal” caught two days in a row driving stolen vehicles. According to DCPI, 23-year-old Nyaomi James was arrested for stealing a car that was parked at 72nd and Madison Avenue near the Ralph Lauren Men’s Flagship. Police say the owner of the car “used his cell phone to access the tablet that was inside his vehicle, and he saw that the location was moving.”
