East 83rd Street Building Catches Fire

A fire broke out on Monday afternoon at 214 East 83rd Street between Second and Third avenues, an early 1900s five-story rental building with 20 apartments, according to the Streeteasy building description.

The FDNY received a call about the fire at 2:05 p.m. and it was deemed ‘under control’ by 2:51 p.m. The fire started in a fourth floor apartment and did not result in any injuries.

East Side Feed reader Kevin Christopher Robles provided us with photos of the incident and FDNY response.

We’ve inquired with the FDNY about the cause of the fire but have not gotten a response as of writing.
