Police told East Side Feed on Monday that the woman was 81 years old and died after falling from an “elevated position.” Whether or not she had a motive and/or jumped on purpose remains unclear, as the investigation is still ongoing according to the NYPD.
According to the New York Post, witnesses claimed the victim’s body got caught on something on the building during her unfortunate plunge.
“I pulled up just as she was laying there, she had no head,” a building resident told the Post on Saturday. “The head and the arm were clean cut off on the other side, they ended up on the terrace.”
The Park Regis, a c0-op located between Park and Madison avenues, is 33 stories high and fitted with numerous balconies. Currently available units range in price from about one million to $4.5 million.

“Everyone started rushing towards the body but she was gone,” another witness who claimed to see what happened directly after the incident told the Post. “Her body landed there but her head and leg hit the fence there, you can see it’s bent, there were clothes and blood stuck there.”
The incident was the second fatal fall that occurred in Manhattan on Saturday.
The Post reported that a man, 52, leapt from his 17th floor balcony in an apartment complex in Chelsea at around 5 a.m. in an alleged suicide.
