The building, located between 86th and 87th streets, houses several businesses. Police sources told Patch that the suspect “stole $2,000 worth of merchandise” from the Best Buy store.

When a 34-year-old male employee attempted to confront the suspect, “the employee sustained a laceration to the right hand while trying to retrieve the store item,” police say.

The unidentified suspect ran out of the store and headed east down Third Avenue.

The employee’s injury was treated onsite by EMS.
