FDNY officials told East Side Feed on Sunday via email that units arrived on scene due to a fire in the basement of the structure. A total of 60 fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel were on the scene.
The FDNY added that the “cause and origin is currently under investigation.” The fire was deemed under control by 3:46 p.m.
The Upper East Side has seen its fair share of fires over the last few months.
On Feb. 24, another fire injured five people at 205 East 92nd Street, between Second and Third avenues. At the end of January, a three-alarm fire in Carnegie Hill warranted Red Cross attention. And on January 15, an elderly woman was critically injured in a top-floor apartment fire.
