Man Robs Bluemercury in Broad Daylight

NYPD officials have issued an alert about a commercial robbery which took place on the Upper East Side last month. Police are hoping someone from the general public will be able to assist them in identifying and locating the wanted individual.

According to the police report, the incident took place on Tuesday, February 11 at about 12:40 p.m., when an unidentified suspect entered the Bluemercury cosmetics store at 1566 Third Avenue (corner of 88th Street).

“The unidentified individual began to remove fragrance bottles from the shelves and concealed them in his clothing,” states the report. “As a 48-year-old female employee confronted the individual, he raised his arm with a bottle in a threatening manner. The individual then fled the location on foot with approximately $180 of store merchandise. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.”

Police describe the suspect as a “male in his 50s with a light complexion [who] was last seen wearing a black coat, blue jeans and white sneakers.”
