A woman has been arrested for an anti-gay hate crime she committed earlier this summer on the Upper East Side, police announced on Tuesday. The news of her arrest was first reported by Pix 11.
On June 22, 49 year old Elaine Grossman tried to take a 34 year old male victim’s rainbow-colored face mask, made anti-gay comments, threw her bag at him and spit on him. This incident occurred outside of 1735 Second Avenue, between 89th and 90th Streets (where Mexican restaurant Móle is located).
Police began seeking help from the public on June 30.
On 6/22/21, at approx. 1:30 PM, in front of 1735 2nd Ave, an individual tried to take a 34-year-old male victim's mask from his neck, while making anti-gay statements. Grossman has been charged with aggravated harassment as a hate crime.
