On Friday, June 25, the FDNY was alerted about a seventh floor fire at 1100 Madison Avenue, between 82nd and 83rd Streets.
At 12:14pm, @FDNYalerts shared a tweet saying that the fire – which came from apartment # 7A – was under control, approximately 30 minutes after they first reported it.
Video shared on Citizen App shows two FDNY ladders extended into seventh floor windows.

Built in 1911, 1100 Madison Avenue – which goes by the name Gerel – is a rental building which occupies the entire block between 82nd and 83rd Streets. It houses 101 apartments across ten floors and is also home to ground level retail stores including Lobel’s Prime Meats, William Greenberg Jr. Desserts, Roundabout Resale Couture, Tumi, Sundaram Tagore Gallery and See Eyewear.

We reached out to the FDNY’s press office and were told that one civilian was treated on the scene.
