Upper East Side Thai restaurant PuTawn has recently rebranded – and is now Zabb PuTawn, which is focusing on Northern and Northeastern Thai cuisine, the New York Times was first to report.
Located at 1584 First Avenue at 83rd Street (as PuTawn since 2016), Zabb PuTawn’s grand opening was on August 23. “Zabb is a Northeastern Thai word that means ‘craveably delicious,'” the restaurant explained.
Chef and co-owner Therdtus “Tony” Rittaprom is offering dishes he served at Zabb Elee, a restaurant he owned in Jackson Heights, Queens.
Some of Chef Tony’s new dishes include “som tum Zabb Putawn; spicy gaeng om chicken soup; and larb moo kua, a pork and spice lover’s delight!” the restaurant announced on its Instagram page.

The new menu comes with 14 categories which include papaya salads, spicy ground meat salads, spicy milky soup and noodle soups.
