Bondi Sushi is getting ready to open a second location on the Upper East Side.
The new restaurant is coming to 1445 Third Avenue at East 82nd Street, roughly 15 blocks north of Bondi’s current UES location at 1140 Third Avenue, between East 66th and 67th streets. No opening date has been announced yet.

The menu centers on nigiri, sashimi, hand rolls and crispy rice, and there’s an omakase option too. Co-owner Aiden Carty has named the truffle avocado, spicy tuna and lobster among the brand’s most popular items. The restaurant has already gone through the community board process. In October, CB8’s Street Life Committee backed its liquor license application. Darren Weimer, who presented for Bondi, told the committee that dine-in makes up about 60% of the business and alcohol only about 6% to 7% of sales. He added that Bondi hasn’t had a single State Liquor Authority violation in its nine years in Manhattan. After the committee, the application went to the full board, and the State Liquor Authority has the final say.
Bondi launched in New York City in 2017. It’s named after Bondi Beach near Sydney, Australia. Besides its two UES spots, it has locations in NoMad, Nolita, Tribeca, Williamsburg, Yankee Stadium and its Upper West Side location, plus a large Bryant Park flagship that opened in January. It also has several restaurants in South Florida.
