Restaurant Openings: Sojourn Social + Buena Onda

Two new restaurants have just opened on the Upper East Side.

The owners of Sojourn, located at 244 East 79th Street, recently had a grand opening for their second UES establishment, Sojourn Social — located at 1708 Second Avenue, between 88th and 89th streets. This space was formerly home to Genesis Bar.

Early reviews give praise to the new bar and restaurant’s ambiance and list of curated cocktails.

Some menu items include Duck Rillete Croquettes, Lobster Truffle Mac & Cheese, Braised Short Rib Sliders and Shrimp Tacos. They’ve also got a selection of meat and cheese plates and Sojourn’s Signature Cheesecake for dessert.

Sojourn Social is serving dinner 7 nights a week and lunch on Saturdays and Sundays. Reservations are available on Resy.

Also new to the UES is Buena Onda, which recently opened its doors at 1446 First Avenue, between 75th and 76th streets. The focus of this new restaurant is “mezcal cocktails and small bites,” according to its Instagram page. The chef and owner is Ruperto Ramirez, who also runs Canyon Road just a block away at 1470 First Ave, between 76th and 77th streets. To learn more, follow @buenaondany on Instagram.
