With sharp wit, unmistakable charisma, and a knack for managing even the hungriest crowds, Bobby embodied the spirit of New York hospitality. He brought his full self to the job every day, making each guest feel like they were part of the club. “The burger may define JG Melon, but Bobby became the face of this clubhouse.” wrote Restaurant Relics in their tribute.
Outside the restaurant, Bobby was just as legendary. From late-night food crawls to subway rides that felt like mayoral campaigns, his presence in the city was unforgettable. “What I do, that’s the often asked question. I’ve been here, I tell girls over 30 years, it’s actually over 40. I feel like the key for the Commissioner. I feel like Joe Valachi,” Torre told The Burger Show back in 2019, reflecting on his role with his signature mix of humor and humility.
His legacy now joins those commemorated on the restaurant’s iconic memorial wall. A heartfelt tribute post from JG Melon reads simply:
He leaves behind a city and a burger joint that will never be the same without him.
