Just shy of a month after opening its doors, a popular new restaurant on the Upper East Side has earned a coveted shout-out on Eater’s most recent “Best Dishes” list–along with glowing praise from other prominent outlets.

Chez Fifi’s plush, mahogany-rich interior comprises two floors with distinct identities and menus: a main dining room on the first floor and a cocktail lounge on the second. The dining menu, created by chef Zack Zeidman, offers a la cart options that the New York Times described as “inspired by Paris” but with “tastes of Spain.” Considering it includes options like Frogs’ Legs Persillade ($48) and Basque Deviled Crab ($42), that seems like an apt description.

Eater editor Melissa McCart, who described the menu in her writeup as “terrific” and “decadent,” singled out an offering called Poulet Rôti ($82/$160), a dish comprised of a half-chicken paired with foie gras jus, fries and a salad.

“It’s also available as a whole chicken, but stick with the smaller portion to try more things on the menu — then head upstairs for an after-dinner cocktail in the cozy salon,” McCart writes, referring to the second floor lounge’s cocktail and small bites-focused menu.
Called Salon de Fifi à l’Etage, the full-floor cocktail lounge is run by mixologist Yumi Nemoto. The space so strikingly picturesque that it appears as if it came straight out of a film made during Hollywood’s Golden Age.
“Here, guests can indulge in creative and classic cocktails alongside a menu of small bites from the Chez Fifi kitchen,” the restaurant’s Instagram says.
You can make reservations at Chez Fifi on its website.
