Brothers Jonathan and Andrew Schnipper have announced the opening of their eponymous Upper East Side soup spot.

Schnipper’s Quality Soups had its soft-opening on December 26 at 849 Lexington Avenue (between 64th and 65th streets), the space where the brothers first opened Hale and Hearty Soups back in 1995.

“We are officially ready for soup season,” reads a post on the new eatery’s Instagram page, adding that a small selection of soups would be available on opening day.

“Let us know which soup you can’t wait to see on the menu,” Schnipper’s added, with the post image listing their Chicken Vegetable, Lentil Chili, Italian White Bean with Baby Kale, and Spinach Artichoke Cheddar.

The menu–which lists the first three soups mentioned above as “Everyday Soups” and the Spinach Artichoke Cheddar as their current “Daily Soup Special”–will also include sandwiches, wraps, chopped salads, and a selection of healthy juices.

The brothers ran Hale and Hearty until 2006, at which point they sold the company. They also opened Hamburger America in Soho in 2023.

Schnipper’s (without the ‘Quality Soups’ in its name) first launched in 2009 with two Midtown locations, both of which are still operating.

Thursday’s soft-opening ran from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., and Friday’s hours are scheduled for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
