The Salt Mediterranean Opens Doors

The Salt Mediterranean recently opened its doors at 1123 First Avenue, between 61st and 62nd Streets.

Menu items include lots of kebabs; several steak, fish and lamb entrees; hot and cold mezzes like hummus, baba ganoush, falafel, fried calamari and grilled octopus; several salads and specials including stuffed cabbage leaves and mini beef dumplings with garlic yogurt.

Early reviews are positive, with compliments to the friendly service, atmosphere and food.

The last tenant to occupy this space was Spanish restaurant El Porron. The owners of The Salt have renovated the space, and dedicated several Instagram posts to their construction process.

The asking rent for the space, according to @TradedNY, was $140 per-square-foot per year. At 1,750 square feet, that makes the annual rent $245,000, or a bit over $20,000 per month.
