Following Emack & Bolio’s recent transformation into a brand-new ice cream shop, two more eateries have announced upcoming overhauls.
Nick’s Pizza–a long-running slice staple at 1814 Second Avenue (at 94th Street)–”is embarking on an exciting new chapter under the leadership of brothers Jimmy and Peter Levantis,” states a press release which goes on to describe the addition of a new full-service bar and an optimized and renovated party space. While the menu will not be changing initially, seasonal dishes will be added, along with cocktails (once they have their liquor license). Nick’s is expected to reopen later this week or early next week.

Imli Urban Indian Food (1136 First Avenue between 62nd and 63rd streets) will soon be called Lungi South Indian & Sri Lankan Restaurant (h/t @UESthings). The owners closed to begin renovations on August 19 and according to window signage, they’ll be reopening with the new concept in mid-September. Imli first opened its doors in 2017 and quickly became a popular destination for its cocktails, patio, garlic naan and more. There isn’t much information about Lungi, but here’s the new website where you can sign up for updates.
ALSO: Signage is up at 849 Lexington Avenue (between 64th and 65th streets) for Schnipper’s Quality Soups. It will occupy the space which used to be counter service chain Hale and Hearty Soups, founded by the same pair of brothers—Jonathan and Andrew Schnipper. “So excited that we are getting back into the soup business!” wrote Andrew in a LinkedIN post. “Schnippers Quality Soups will open this Fall. And in the same exact location that we started Hale and Hearty in over 30 years ago!”
