A 90-year-old woman was killed after being hit by two cars on the Upper East Side on Wednesday.
The incident took place on 72nd and York Avenue at about 5:41 p.m. The woman, who has since been identified as Frances Rickard, was initially hit by a 68-year-old man driving a 2020 Toyota RAV4 as he was making a u-turn, according to police officials.
Rickard had been crossing the street and the collision caused her to fall to the ground, at which point, she was struck by a 35-year-old woman driving a 2023 Chevy Trailblazer.
“The female’s trapped underneath the vehicle; not breathing, not awake,” an officer can be heard saying on a police dispatch call. Several videos of the emergency response were shared on the Citizen App.

According to other reports, the RAV4 was a taxi. Please follow up on police response to the (illegal?) U-turn and any speed violation by the Trailblazer. Was the victim in a crosswalk?
