A transit worker at one of the Upper East Side’s busiest subway stations returned to her booth early Thursday to find the glass shattered and her belongings gone.
The break-in happened at 3:45 a.m. inside the East 86th Street station, when a burglar broke through the protective glass of the MTA booth. When the 42-year-old clerk came back, she discovered her purse and an MTA-issued iPad missing, police told Patch.
No arrests had been made as of Thursday, and the investigation is ongoing, police said. Investigators have not released a description of the burglar or said whether the station’s cameras captured the break-in.
