Cop Shoots Suspect Fleeing UES Traffic Stop

At about 3:09pm on Tuesday, an NYPD officer was attempting to conduct a traffic stop at East 102nd Street and Park Avenue. The stop was initiated over the driver’s suspected recent involvement in nearby commercial robberies.

When approached by the officer, the driver fled the location by recklessly driving onto the sidewalk, soon striking two uninvolved vehicles at East 99th Street and Madison Avenue.

One officer discharged his firearm while attempting to apprehend the two occupants in the vehicle. NYPD sources tell us the officer struck property only.

The officer was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital for minor injuries (“ringing in the ears,” according to the Daily News).

No other injuries have been reported as a result of this incident. The vehicle involved was recovered, but the two individuals fled the location in an unknown direction on foot. No arrests have been made at this time and an investigation remains ongoing.
