Cyclist Hit by Car on 82nd and 3rd Avenue

The NYPD was alerted on Saturday, June 19 at 7:37pm that a car had collided with a bicyclist near 82nd and 3rd Avenue.

The 25 year old male driver of a 2016 Honda was headed eastbound on 82nd Street when he collided with a 22 year old male riding a bicycle northbound.

Video of the incident, shared on Citizen App, shows an ambulance from Lenox Hill Hospital and an FDNY truck as officers responded to the scene, alongside a number of passersby who had stopped to see what was happening. The video appears to have been taken from a nearby apartment.

The NYPD says the bike rider was taken to New York Hospital. When we asked about his condition (about one week after the incident) we were told it did not appear critical.

Since this June 19 incident, there have been four additional reports of vehicles striking pedestrians on the Upper East Side (just on Citizen App), with incident locations including 72nd and 3rd Avenue, 84th between Lexington and 3rd Avenues, 86th between York and East End Avenues, and 90th and 2nd Avenue.

A motorcyclist was also reportedly struck by an SUV on 84th and 2nd Avenue on June 25 at about 7am.
