A fire broke out late Thursday afternoon inside an enormous single-family townhouse on the Upper East Side, according to an FDNY spokesperson.

Twelve units, including approximately 60 Fire and EMS personnel, responded to the scene. Firefighters worked quickly to contain the blaze, and the fire was brought under control by 6:13 p.m., officials said.
When ESF arrived on the scene, three ladders had been raised, and FDNY members were visibly working inside the fifth floor, while new crew members approached the building. Other firefighters who had exited the blaze were checking their oxygen tanks on the sidewalk. The street between Lexington and Third Avenues was blocked off, with multiple FDNY vehicles and EMS units lined up along 70th Street and the adjoining avenues.
There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Late media mogul Robert Sillerman sold 157 East 70th Street in 2014 for $28 million, according to a report by The Observer at the time. Per a Streeteasy description, the house measures approximately 10,000 square feet.
