More details about the April 26 shooting on East 95th between Park and Lexington Avenues have been revealed.
The NY Daily News reports that the 20 year old male victim, who was rushed to Mount Sinai where he was pronounced dead, had been shot in the back seat of an SUV by the passenger sitting next to him.
The shooter shot the victim in the chest, exited the vehicle and walked towards Lexington Avenue before heading uptown.
The driver then took off with another individual sitting in the passenger seat and crashed into a car on the same block. The driver and passenger were then both taken into custody.
Police sources tell the NY Daily News that this shooting may have been the result of a “drug deal gone bad,” as a large bag of marijuana was found in the backseat.
While weed is now legal in NYC (for adults 21 and over), selling it is not. The state is working on the process of administering dispensary licenses.
