It was around half past noon Saturday, on a block of pre-war co-ops in the East 70s, when a 54-year-old woman was stabbed in the stomach. Police had someone in custody before the afternoon was over.

The building’s doorman put the attack at roughly 12:30 p.m. Officers arrived at 210 E. 73rd St., between Second and Third avenues, about nine minutes later and found the woman wounded, according to the Daily News. Medics took her to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell, where she was listed in stable condition.The person police took into custody was a 66-year-old woman, the New York Post reported, citing sources. She was being held as a person of interest, with charges pending as of Saturday. Sources told the Post that the 54-year-old was the elder woman’s home health aide, and that the incident followed an argument about an oxygen mask.
A man who lives on the street told the Post he was outside having a cigarette shortly before all of this when one of the women allegedly involved in the attack asked him for one. He turned her down, and then heard her yelling into her phone at someone who seemed to be her patient. “I do everything for you,” he recalled her saying, before listing the laundry she did and the care she provided.
The investigation is ongoing.
