About 300 people rallied outside of Gracie Mansion Sunday to protest Mayor de Blasio’s vaccination mandate, which, as of August 17, requires that anyone over the age of 12 participating in indoor dining, indoor entertainment, or indoor exercise show proof that they’ve received “at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine authorized for emergency use by the FDA or WHO.” NYC is the first city in the U.S. to hold these requirements.
The initiative, catalyzed by the spread of the Delta variant, is being dubbed Key to NYC, and will be fully enforced beginning September 13. Among those who gathered to rally against it included republican mayoral candidate and Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa; Staten Island republican councilman Joe Borelli; Andrea Catsimatidis, chairof the Manhattan Republican Party; and Andrew Giuliani, Rudy’s son and also a republican mayoral candidate.
