Cafe August has opened at 145 East 62nd Street (between Lexington and Third avenues). “Nestled in the heart of Manhattan’s Upper East Side, Café August offers a cozy, modern retreat for coffee lovers and foodies alike,” reads the new cafe’s Instagram bio. Back in February, East Side Feed reported that the owners of August, the now-closed new American restaurant at 791 Lexington Avenue, had plans to return to the neighborhood on a smaller scale. At the time, Chef Nils Noren described a “small cafe with about 16 seats inside” and a menu “focus[ed] on baked goods, salad, sandwiches, versions of waffles and three simple main courses. Early Yelp reviews (there are two of them) are positive, praising the new eatery’s lobster roll and its decor, along with the friendly staff. Here’s a photo of the menu and here’s an image of their ham and cheese croissant.

La Maison Orveda New York City has opened at 1020 Madison Avenue (between 78th and 79th streets). This is the French skin care brand’s first U.S. flagship boutique, and according to a press release from COTY, Orveda’s parent company, the new location “will serve as a hub, where luxury and art blend seamlessly, offering guests an exclusive immersion into the Orveda universe.” The two-floor, 3,840 square foot space comes with curated local art and three treatment rooms, where “signature facials” are performed. There’s also an event room which will “host masterclasses, scientific talks, art exhibitions, and many other interactive experiences on a rotating basis.”
