With Mezzaluna’s final service just days away, one of its Upper East Side neighbors is stepping in to make sure the restaurant’s staff isn’t left on their own.

Mark and Jennifer Miller of Jennifer Miller Jewelry, at 972 Lexington Avenue (between 70th and 71st streets), have launched a GoFundMe to help Mezzaluna’s employees with lost wages and urgent expenses after the restaurant closes. The campaign went live on Monday with an $8,000 goal, and the Millers kicked it off with a $500 donation of their own. According to the fundraiser page, all of the money raised will go to the restaurant’s management to distribute among the staff. As of writing, $1,550 has been raised from 10 donations.

As we reported last week, the 1984 Italian institution at 1295 Third Avenue (between 74th and 75th streets) is set to close for good on Sunday, November 1. The fundraiser points out that the staff is losing steady work with the holiday season approaching.

“The Upper East Side is more than a neighborhood—it’s a community built on relationships, loyalty, and looking out for one another,” Jennifer Miller told East Side Feed. “Mezzaluna has long been part of the fabric of our neighborhood, and the people who work there are what make it so special in addition to the delicious food.”

“At Jennifer Miller Jewelry, we believe that being a good neighbor means showing up when it matters most,” she added. “We are proud to support the Mezzaluna team and hope to inspire others in our community to do the same.”

The restaurant’s future has been uncertain since March, when word spread it would close and regulars responded with a petition that drew more than 2,000 signatures. Founder Aldo Bozzi extended the lease in response, but only for a short time, as his daughter Gea Bozzi explained in an essay we covered in May.
