Small Business Saturday is November 27, and the second annual Yorkville Small Business Saturday walking tour invites locals and visitors alike to explore the unique charm of the neighborhood and its shops.
The tour – from 11am to 2pm – begins at Black Star Bakery & Cafe at 1597 York Ave between 84th and 85th streets, and will end at a local pub (most likely Ryan’s Daughter at 350 East 85th Street, between First and Second Ave).
The walking tour was launched in 2019 by Yorkville Buy Local, an advocacy group whose goal is to “promote and protect” local small businesses. After a break last year due to the pandemic, the event returns with a number of participants including Logos Bookstore, Brothers Guitar Shop, Hex & Co., Tiny Doll House, Lisa’s on Second, Dorrian’s Seafood Market, Black Star Bakery & Cafe and more. Discounts will be offered at select venues as well.

In addition to supporting local businesses, attendees can enjoy the walk through the Upper East Side’s historic Yorkville neighborhood during the most beautiful time of the year in New York City. You’ll also have the opportunity to hear participating proprietors talk about their companies.

Yorkville Buy Local will offer free tote bags and “fun treats and discounts” from local area shops, and attendees will be able to learn more about Yorkville Buy Local’s goals for the neighborhood at the tour’s ending location. As this is a walking tour, comfortable shoes are strongly recommended. And to be COVID safe, much of the tour will take place outdoors.
Reservations are encouraged in order to guarantee a spot through Eventbrite.
