Amazon has ordered two seasons of the new series from husband-and-wife team David and Amy Sherman-Palladino, which was also filmed on the Upper West Side last month.

This is not the Palladinos first foray into the world of ballet. In addition to creating the immensely popular “Gilmore Girls,” they were also the team behind the ABC-Family comedy-drama “Bunheads,” which aired for one season in 2012-2013. They’ll also keep things familiar by bringing along some Maisel alums: The series stars Luke Kirby who played Lenny Bruce in the series, as well as Gideon Glick who played the illusionist named Alfie. Maisel’s executive producer Dhana Rivera Gilbert is also on board.

The cast also includes Simon Callow of “Outlander,” dancer Lou De Laâge, Tony Award winner David Alvarez, Charlotte Gainsbourg (who replaced Camille Cottin), and Yanic Truesdale of “Gilmore Girls.” The show is filming in Paris as well as New York, although more details on the plot are unavailable. Amazon has signed on for two eight-episode seasons. Amazon exec Jennifer Salke has said, “We’re incredibly excited for Étoile, as we have no doubt Amy, Dan, and their team will continue to produce incredible and impactful event television that we can’t wait to share with our global Prime audiences.”

There is not yet an anticipated debut date for “Etoile.”
