A Chelsea coffee spot, Marathon Coffee, is getting ready to open a new location on 89th and 3rd Avenue. The family-operated coffee company is about a year old, and this will be its second location (which they tell us they’re hoping to open within the next two weeks).
The owners opened their first location at 769 Sixth Avenue (between 25th and 26th Streets) last year, and the announcement about their uptown expansion seemed to stir up a lot of excitement.
Marathon serves selections of single-origin PROOF Coffee, which has several locations throughout the city, and pastries by East Harlem’s Pabade Bakery.
Marathon’s got pretty stellar reviews on Google, with a score of 4.9 out of 5 stars.
Ella’s Cafe Espresso & Wine Bar opened its doors in early August at 1465 Second Avenue, on the corner of 76th Street.
Early reviews are positive – they’ve also got a 4.9 on Google – and people are liking the cute and cozy vibes, chai lattes and pastries (both sweet and savory). The menu also features toasts and sandwiches, an Israeli brunch and breakfast, soups, salads and more.

Here’s Ella’s babka.

And her shakshuka.

And one of her flatbreads.
Here’s the beverage list:
