The owners of Sandro’s, located at 306 East 81st Street, recently announced the Italian restaurant’s permanent closure after 16 years of serving the Upper East Side.
“After giving it much thought and for reasons beyond our control, unfortunately this Sunday will be our last dinner service,” they shared in a January 21 Instagram post.
Without sharing any specific plans, the end of the announcement read “We are hopeful that we will be building new memories some time in the near future.”

The building, located between First and Second Avenues, appears to be on the market for sale, and the listing description explicitly states that “The commercial space is configured as a restaurant which will be vacant January 2022. The restaurant pays $10,000/month from May 2021-through January 2022 when the lease expires.”
