A new plain, white sign with a QR code that leads directly to a job application portal is up at the future site.

Cava was founded by Ike Grigoropoulos, Chef Dimitri Moshovitis, Ted Xenohristos and Bret Schulman in 2010.

“We serve delicious and healthful meals[—]Mediterranean-inspired meals,” the chain’s website says. “Individual customization is core to the Cava experience: choose from an abundant spread, layer as many toppings as you’d like and add a side of pita on us. It’s all about complete satisfaction here.”

The website also goes out of its way to point out that it tries to offer “generosity” to its team of employees in all of its locations.

“Our founders watched their parents work tirelessly in a service industry that didn’t support them as well as it could have (second jobs, long hours…At Cava, we want to create a better pathway for our employees, where working in the restaurant industry can lead to viable, long-term careers.”

According to data-scraping site ScrapeHero, there are over 350 Cava locations across the United States, and sixteen of those are in New York.

Third Avenue was supposed to see another popular Mediterranean-inspired chain, Taīm, open between 88th and 89th streets. However, that deal fell through and the space is now set to be taken over by New York-style pizzeria Lucia, which opened its first location on Avenue X in Brooklyn.

East Side Feed reached out to Cava’s corporate site for a statement about the new location but has not heard back as of press time.
