Two Restaurant Openings: Le Petit Parisien and Kansha

Two new restaurants have opened their doors on the UES.

Le Petit Parisien has officially opened its second Upper East Side location, the French sandwich shop and bakery announced on Instagram earlier this week. The new shop, located at 1035 Third Avenue (between 61st and 62nd streets), joins the original UES outpost at 355 East 78th Street, which opened in 2022 (replacing Maison Bangkok). Le Petit Parisien’s sandwiches–always served on a baguette made with flour directly from France–are mostly priced between $12 and $16, with fillings like elevated forms of ham (bone-in cooked and 16-month cured), duck rillettes and cornichons. But there are outliers, like their $35 ‘Louis XIV’ (with foie gras and fig confit) and the $32.50 ‘Les Versailles’ (with smoked salmon and royal Siberian caviar). Le Petit also offers a variety of sweet and savory croissants, macarons, cookies and more.

A new restaurant called Kansha is now up and running at 1312 Madison Avenue at 93rd Street, which was previously home to Hiramasa. The two-level restaurant, founded by Chef Jorge Dionicio, offers a fusion of Japanese and Peruvian cuisines. “Kansha embodies the spirit of appreciation, honoring his journey from Peru to mastering Japanese culinary artistry,” the new restaurant’s website reads. Early reviews are positive, with customers praising Kansha’s sushi and sashimi, ceviche and maki. “Owner-chef Jorge Dionicio is an alum of Sushi Noz and Morimoto,” Eater reports. “The dining room deploys Peruvian textiles for vibrant accents, and there’s an omakase counter on the upper level,” writes The New York Times. Here’s the full menu.
