Even though Adel Nagi’s newest corner grocery store doesn’t share the angelic name of his other locations, he assures us that customers will still find the same quality they’re known for.

“This is not a Heavenly [Market],” he told East Side Feed on Saturday during the store’s grand opening. “But it’s still heavenly!”
Yorkville Market–located at 1670 York Avenue on the corner of 88th Street–is Nagi’s third grocery store to open in the area, though its the first without some variation of the ‘Heavenly’ name. Across the street at 1671 York Avenue is Heavenly Market & Pizza, and just down the way at 1692 York Avenue is the other Heavenly Market.
Yorkville Market opened its doors at 1670 York Avenue on Saturday, August 10.
Nagi said he chose to open up in this part of the city to benefit from the advantages that usually come with a changing neighborhood like the Upper East Side. “More buildings and apartments keep going up [in the Upper East Side], so there’s a need for these kinds of stores,” Nagi said.
Even though his Heavenly and Yorkville markets are clustered together, they’re not all selling the same things.
“This market is more groceries and produce,” he told East Side Feed. The two Heavenly locations focus more on what New Yorkers would consider classic deli and bodega fare (and of course, in one store’s case, made-to-order pizza). “We’re not doing any cooking in here.”
Nagi added that he sees Yorkville Market as a “condensed supermarket” that focuses on low prices and healthy, occasionally organic, produce and products.
To celebrate the store’s opening, Yorkville Market is offering 15% off all purchases during its first week in business.
When asked about possible future expansion plans, Nagi smiled. “Always! Always!”
Hours are currently 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Low prices? That’s a first.
Prices are *not* low, and despite being packed to the gills, they don’t seem to carry any of the basics. Went in to look for juice — orange? No. Apple? Nope.
