East River Medical Imaging’s location at 424 East 89th Street
A $1.85 million settlement has been reached in a data breach lawsuit against East River Medical Imaging, a radiology clinic with three Upper East Side locations in addition to an office in White Plains. Sensitive patient information including social security numbers, medical records and financial details was compromised.

The breach occurred between August 31 and September 20, 2023, when hackers accessed East River Medical Imaging’s systems, the lawsuit states. More than 600,000 individuals had personal data stolen, including names, insurance details, imaging results and referring physicians. While notifications were sent in November 2023, those who did not receive a notice should still remain alert. If you believe you may have been impacted, it’s crucial to take action before the October 22, 2024, 2:30pm deadline. Claims can be submitted here.
The settlement offers reimbursement for documented losses related to the breach, with a maximum of $7,500 available to cover expenses such as bank fees, professional services, or identity theft costs. People impacted by the breach are also eligible for a year of free three-bureau credit monitoring and identity theft protection, even if they don’t submit a claim.
If you think your data may have been compromised, it’s important to submit a claim by Tuesday, October 22 at 2:30 p.m. through the settlement website. You can also take advantage of the free credit monitoring service to keep an eye on any suspicious activity. Regularly check your financial accounts for unauthorized transactions and consider placing a fraud alert on your credit report. It can’t hurt to update your account passwords and enable two-factor authentication for additional security.
