Home Depot will officially relocate from 980 Third Avenue (at 59th Street) to 410 East 61st Street (at First Avenue) on Thursday, October 24, the home improvement retail corporation has announced.
The doors will open at 7 a.m. on grand opening day, which will feature food trucks, prizes, giveaways and more.
This new space–previously home to Bed Bath & Beyond–measures 116,000 square feet, which a company representative tells us is similar in size to the Third Avenue store, though they are configured differently.
CNBC first announced the lease takeover back in October 2020, stating at the time that the home improvement chain would be “paying roughly double in rent what Bed Bath & Beyond was paying.” It was reported to be the biggest Manhattan lease that year.
The new store will come with specialty showrooms, indoor tropical plants and in-store lockers for online pickups.
The store will employ over 300 employees and is currently hiring.

Very happy hope we can get a Wal-Mart someday soon.
