A new piano bar will soon open at the former Lexington Bar and Books.
Tom and Anthony Martignetti, owners of Broome Street Hospitality, will be opening Melody’s at 1020 Lexington Ave (between 72nd and 73rd Streets) on April 1, according to Page Six.

According to the report, the new spot will come with a “working fireplace, palm-covered Versace wallpaper, a black lacquered wood bar, art deco fixtures and a skylight,” and the bar’s main draw will be its cocktails and music (though light fare is expected).
The brothers — who also run The East Pole at 133 East 65th Street, between Park and Lexington avenues — signed a ten year lease for the 1,200 square foot space, according to Crain’s. The asking rent was $200,000 per year.
Tom and Anthony Martignetti have operated other UES restaurants including East Pole Fish at 964 Lexington Avenue, between 70th and 71st streets, and Eastfields at 1479 York Avenue, between 78th and 79th streets, both of which closed during the pandemic. Italian restaurant Cacio e Pepe opened at Eastfield’s former space in April 2021.
