It’s never fun writing about three closed (or closing) restaurants in a single weekend, but for those of you who haven’t yet heard, popular French restaurant The Simone had its last day at 151 East 82nd Street on May 14.
“We here at the Simone have been blessed to be able to have the pleasure of your company these last nine years,” a message on the shuttered eatery’s website reads. “Sometimes, even with the best of intentions and full joy in your endeavors, things simply do not work out for all.”
The farewell note concludes by saying that husband and wife owners “Chip and Tina will continue to send in love notes and photos on the News and Conversations area of this website and hope to have news of our future to share with you sometime soon.”
The news of this closing was first announced in April, when a page on The Simone’s website went live to announce the 82nd Street location’s forthcoming evacuation. “We are already dreaming of our next spot to have all of you join us and enjoy what we do, so stay tuned,” the note read, while adding that there was “Not much to report on the search for a new spot.”
Will The Simone make a comeback like Sandro’s?
