Police have made an arrest in the crash that killed Dr. Gregory Gorzynski, the 85-year-old Upper East Side psychiatrist who was struck while crossing Park Avenue last December.
Paul Mossman, a 67-year-old man from Hudson, NY, was arrested on Monday, October 5 at 1:40 p.m., according to the NYPD. He’s been charged with motor vehicle failure to yield to a pedestrian or bicyclist.
Gorzynski was struck by a van on December 1, 2025 while in the crosswalk at Park Avenue and East 91st Street, only steps from home. He was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Police said at the time that the driver remained at the scene, and the NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad took over the investigation.
Born in Poland in 1940, Gorzynski immigrated to the United States in 1967 and later spent many years at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center before running a private psychiatric practice on the Upper East Side for several decades. In retirement, he volunteered with the Monday Night Hospitality program at All Souls Church, as we noted when we remembered his life and career shortly after his death.
