A 34-story residential building is set to replace a low-rise slated for demolition, according to city records.

A report by Crain’s New York Business revealed that Skyline Developers, a firm established by Orin Wilf in 1999, this week filed permits with the city’s Department of Buildings to construct a new dwelling at 185 East 80th Street (between Third and Lexington avenues). Currently the site of a four-story mixed use building, Skyline wants to erect a 508-foot tower that includes 66 units.

Each floor of the new building would include between one and three apartments, according to Crain’s, as well as 23 parking spaces, retail space on the first floor, and an in-building fitness center, laundry room and pet care space. The entire residential space will make up around 242,000 square feet, records state, with the retail space spanning roughly 2,000 square feet. It’s not clear if the apartments will be for rent or for sale.

The plans come a month after the Wilf family filed permits with the DOB to demolish 185 East 80th Street, as well as three additional prewar mixed-use buildings around the corner, located at 1410-1418 Third Avenue (between East 80th and 81st streets).

According to city records, Leonard Wilf acquired all four buildings in 2022 for $50.1 million. No building plans have been announced for these properties as of now. East Side Feed reached out to Skyline, whose entire property portfolio is based in Manhattan, to inquire about possible plans for the other three buildings but did not hear back by press time.
