Lalique recently opened a flagship store–dubbed Maison d’Artiste–at a historic townhouse at 21 East 63rd Street (between Fifth and Madison Avenues). “Lalique, the iconic crystal house internationally revered as the epitome of French luxury, proudly announces the opening of its immersive retail and lifestyle flagship in the historic Chopard Mansion on New York City’s Upper East Side,” states a press release published on Business Wire. The brand offers a variety of decorative objects (sculptures, cigar boxes, vases), tableware, perfumes, art, jewelry and more. The new shop spans all five stories of the building, which was constructed in 1884.

San Babila will be opening at 1355 Second Avenue (between 71st and 72nd streets) this April, according to the forthcoming Italian restaurant’s Instagram page. “Just one month until we bring a taste of authentic Italy to your neighborhood,” the eatery posted on March 15. We don’t have any details about the menu, but they did just post a teaser of a “Freshly baked, golden, and buttery” croissant. The space at 1355 Second Avenue was previously occupied by Millesima, a wine store. The owners presented their plans to Community Board 8 back in February, stating at the time that the “space will accommodate 16 tables, 46 seats and a six seat bar, with expected daily hours of 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and background music only.”
