Daiso, a popular Japanese discount store with almost 6,000 locations worldwide (3,620 of which are in Japan), is getting ready to open its first Manhattan store at 220 East 57th Street between Second and Third avenues.
An official grand opening event will take place at the 4,800 square foot store on Friday, July 15 and Saturday, July 16 — beginning both days at 10am.
Daiso offers a variety of items — “stationery, kitchen, cosmetics, home goods and more” — most of which are priced between $1.75 and $1.99.
Some of its best-selling items include a Hello Kitty soup bowl, drinking glass and bottle opener; a Little Twin Stars cable protector, shower cap and pouch; and a Rilakkuma air freshener, sticker set and disposable face mask.
There are also product lines for gardening, pets, electronics … pretty much everything.
