After losing her job at the beginning of the pandemic, Upper East Sider (by way of New Orleans) Jen Shoemaker decided to turn her passion of entertaining people into a startup. Krewe De Fromage was soon born, her small business through which she offers custom cheese, meat and fruit boxes.
Now, to support her fellow UES self-starters, Jen is hosting an upcoming holiday popup where they’ll all get to showcase their wares.
“One of the greatest joys of starting a new business on the #UES has been connecting with my neighbors and other small businesses,” Jen wrote on her Instagram page. “Ya’ll really show up to support local and I’m so honored to be in this great company to share our stuff. Please consider supporting small this holiday season. It truly would mean the world to me and will definitely keep me afloat starting the new year.”
The popup will include drinks (with and without alcohol), and the list of participants (in addition to Krewe De Fromage) currently includes:
- Wet My Plants Co. (home decor and accessories)
- Bessi’s Baubles (handmade beaded jewelry)
- Mimi’s Sweet Shop (home baked desserts and custom cakes)
- UES Things and Explore UES (UES branded apparel)
The event will be taking place on Sunday, December 5 from 3-7pm at DTUT (1744 Second Avenue at 91st Street). For more info, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
