A new place to grab a slice is now up and running at 1393 Second Avenue between 72nd and 73rd streets. Krave Pizza opened on Monday, August 12, and has already gotten some positive reviews.

“Great addition to the neighborhood, amazing staff, nice and clean, amazing pizza!!” said one customer who gave them a 5-star review on Google, though one reviewer gave them only 2 stars and described “Low end sauce and cheese on heavy dough.” The other three reviewers (as of writing) gave them 5 stars.
Krave Pizza is an expansion from the owners of Krafe Café and Deli, which opened in November at 1399 Second Avenue, just a few doors down. The deli opened in the space which was previously home to Little Vincent’s Pizza, so adding a pizza place made sense.

The space is small with a long pizza counter and a few two-seater tables. On a Sunday afternoon, most customers were ordering slices to go, grabbing a bite as they walked through the neighborhood. Service was quick and included a smile.
All of the usual pizza flavors are accounted for. You can get a slice of plain for $3.50, pepperoni for $4.95 and most “special” slices are $5.50. They have a few interesting options like a Margherita with fresh tomatoes and a drizzle of basil and a mushroom and broccoli.

All varieties can come as 14- or 18-inch pies, priced from $17.99 for a 14” plain to $36.97 for an 18” Sicilian pepperoni. They also have six kinds of strombolis, all priced at $7.99 aside from the meat lovers at $8.99. They’ve got a fridge full of sodas and other drinks.
The pizza is better than your average counter slice, with a crust that’s crunchy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. Both plain and Margherita came with just the right amount of cheese and tasted great with a sprinkle of red pepper flakes. The space is clean and bright with upbeat pop music playing in the background. With several nearby schools and students returning soon, it’s sure to be a popular lunch spot during the week.
