Bluestone Lane’s newest Upper East Side café is now open, and it’s taken over a spot that was serving coastal Italian food until recently.

The Australian-inspired coffee chain has opened at 1556 Second Avenue, between 80th and 81st streets, in the former home of Adria. Endri Qalliu, Adria’s chef and co-owner, told us in September that Bluestone Lane was taking over the space, as we first reported last month.

The company is calling it its Yorkville café, and per its website, the room was designed to be warm and bright, with seating that works for anything from a quick coffee to a long brunch with the family. The all-day menu includes the chain’s Avo Smash and Best Mates Bowl, along with lemon ricotta pancakes topped with citrus curd and edible petals, and a BL Burrito packed with scrambled eggs, bacon, avocado, sheep’s milk feta, crispy potato and guajillo sauce. On the drinks side, there’s the flat white and the Magic, a stronger take on it served in a 4.5-ounce cup, plus a Hot Milo, the malted chocolate drink the menu calls an Aussie favorite.

Bluestone Lane already had a presence in the neighborhood with its café at 1085 Fifth Avenue (between 89th and 90th streets), at the Church of the Heavenly Rest.

The Second Avenue space has seen its share of turnover. Adria opened there in 2024, taking over for Gray Hawk Grill, and closed in September after two years. At the time, Qalliu told us he was exploring options to relocate Adria within the neighborhood, though he didn’t have a timeline.
