The Upper East Side’s wait for Mimi’s is almost over. The Australian frozen yogurt brand that’s spent the past year pulling block-long lines below 14th Street has settled on an opening day, and it lands early enough that it’ll still feel like summer when the doors swing open.

Mimi’s will open its Upper East Side shop at 997 Lexington Avenue (at East 72nd Street) on Thursday, September 10 at noon, the brand said in an Instagram announcement. It’s the third Mimi’s in Manhattan and the first above 14th Street, and the company’s website lists the same daily hours uptown as it does downtown: noon to 10 p.m.Mimi’s has moved fast to get here. Founder Amber Linz landed in New York in July 2024, started formulating recipes that October and signed her first lease in Union Square the following April. That buildout would have run past the warm months, so she leased a SoHo space instead and opened it in August 2025. A second shop followed on University Place on March 2 of this year, which puts Lexington Avenue about thirteen months after the first cup was served.
The setup is self-serve, so you build your own cup and pay by weight at $1.20 an ounce. Most cups land between $11 and $18. The yogurt base is Greek yogurt cut with milk and kefir and only a little cane sugar, and the fruit flavors are built on real purées rather than syrups. The two worth knowing about are the Alphonso mango and a ceremonial-grade matcha the shop makes with Blank Street Coffee. Toppings rotate with the season through Natoora, the produce supplier that stocks a long list of Michelin-starred kitchens.
The lines are the other thing that may travel uptown with it. At the SoHo and Greenwich Village shops, waits regularly stretch down the sidewalk on warm afternoons and evenings, and the crowd skews young.

Mimi’s also arrives in a neighborhood that’s been quietly filling back up with frozen yogurt.
