Myka, the Madrid-born frozen yogurt chain known for downtown lines that wrap around the block, put up signage on the Upper East Side last month without saying when it would open. Now it has a date, and neighbors won’t have to wait long.

Myka will open at 1547 Second Avenue, between 80th and 81st streets, this Saturday, October 24, the company announced on Instagram. “My sources have confirmed the rumors. MYKA is finally here,” the post reads. The company hasn’t announced opening hours. The storefront most recently housed Ania Rybka Salon. We first reported on the signage going up there in September.
Myka started as a single shop in Madrid in 2023, founded by chef Natalia Morales and entrepreneur Javier Ezquerro, and has since grown into a global franchise with dozens of stores across Europe, Latin America and the U.S. Its first U.S. store opened in Miami Beach last December, and it’s since added several Manhattan locations, including a West Village shop that’s become known for its waits and a Rockefeller Center location that opened over the summer.
The pitch is a tangier, less sweet take on frozen yogurt. Myka’s original base is made with Greek yogurt and goat’s milk kefir, and each store makes its product in an on-site workshop, rotating in two seasonal flavors a month plus fruit sorbets for anyone avoiding dairy. The toppings lean Mediterranean, with options like baklava, pistachio sauce, olive oil and fig and orange compotes.
Myka is the latest arrival in a neighborhood that’s been steadily refilling with frozen yogurt. Mimi’s, the Australian brand behind those block-long lines in SoHo and Greenwich Village, opened its Lexington Avenue shop at East 72nd Street in September, a few months after Mythos, a Greek-inspired shop with a similar yogurt-first approach, opened on First Avenue between 68th and 69th streets.
Myka’s own corner is even more crowded. Pinkberry, 16 Handles and Anita Gelato all sit on Second Avenue between 81st and 82nd streets, less than a block away. Saturday will be the first chance to see whether Myka’s lines follow it uptown.
