The store at 1175 Third Avenue (at 69th Street) will open on Friday, November 20, Five Below confirmed to East Side Feed in an email. The grand opening celebration will continue through Sunday, November 22, with free giveaways all weekend, special product deals, games, and activities for kids, according to the company. It’s been a long road to opening day. Word that the chain might take space in the building first surfaced in 2023, and in June 2024 we reported that Five Below had leased more than 13,000 square feet there, according to Regency Centers, which manages the property. The building’s former Food Emporium space is also home to the first Whole Foods Market Daily Shop, which opened in September 2024.
That Food Emporium had a much larger footprint, spread across more than 25,000 square feet on two floors.
Five Below says the new store will stock candy and snacks, toys and games, top brands and collectibles, beauty products, the latest tech, room décor, and more. Most items cost between $1 and $5, though shoppers will also find merchandise priced above $5.
Once it’s open, the store will run from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
