Heatwise is bringing its infrared hot yoga to the Upper East Side, with a new studio coming soon to 304 East 86th Street (between First and Second avenues), the business recently announced on Instagram. The class format is a music-driven vinyasa flow set in an infrared-heated room, and the studio says no two sessions are quite alike, since each is shaped by the teacher leading it. The 86th Street space will be Heatwise’s third location, joining its existing studios on the Upper West Side and in Brooklyn Heights.

Upper East Side Thrift Shop has opened its third neighborhood location at 1199 First Avenue (between 64th and 65th streets), the store recently announced this weekend on Instagram. The new outpost joins the shop’s locations at 1670 First Avenue (between 87th and 88th streets) and 1720 Second Avenue (between 89th and 90th streets). Owners George Khodzhayev and Anastasia Akodis, who are married, opened their first location at 1670 First Ave. in 2023. When asked how they are able to expand despite having so many shoplifters, we were told they are “just counting on more honest customers.”

The forthcoming restaurant comes from Chef Lana Lagomarsini, a Bronx native who was featured on Bravo’s “Top Chef” and whose resume includes stints at Gramercy Tavern, Daniel and Momofuku Ko. “A preview of what’s waiting for you at Creola when we open later this summer: Lamb, tamarind BBQ, and chow chow,” Chef Lana shared in an Instagram teaser last week. “The tamarind and plantains draw from the bold, vibrant flavors of the Caribbean, while the barbecue sauce and chow chow nod to the traditions of the South.”
